Elevators are classified into mainly Machine Room and Machine Room Less type. Earlier elevators were used with Geared Traction Motors and with the advent of year 2000, a more silent, energy efficient Gearless Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) came into place. Nowadays, almost all elevators sold across the globe are with Gearless Motor.
